Now in order for you to appreciate these short stories, I need to first give you a little background on my friends Lydia. She's a 3 year old with lots of spunk! She has something to say about everything and I laugh at what she says about 99.9% of the time! I have told her mom, more than once, that she is a one-woman show! I need to start a 'Lydia Quote Book'. She also has an 8 year old sister, named Veronica, who runs the show when she's home, so when Lydia has me to herself, she takes control! The other day she said, "Let's do something really fun and then when Veronica gets home I'll tell her about it!" Anyways....
My time with her is always eventful and this past Wednesday she was particularly entertaining! She loves to play games and does NOT like to follow the rules, she makes up her own. I have trouble remembering all of her ideas, but here are a few:
**Lydia: "Tracie, let's play that game where I climb on the playhouse and you sit on the floor and catch me!" Me: "I don't think I have ever played that game!" Lydia: "Yes, we ever did!"
**Lydia: "Let's play that game where you sit on the floor and be the monster and I will run around while you try to catch me!" I had to stay put!
**These two games entertained her for a while, but then she ventured into the game closet and found all of the card games. The first one she picked out was a stack of pink triangles (math flash cards), that she had never seen before. Lydia:"Let's play this game!" Me: "How do you play?" Lydia: "Well we each get a pile..." so she handed them out, she had 20 and I had about 6.. "can I have a couple of yours?" Me: "Yes."
Lydia: "Now we lay them out in a pattern," So we each laid ours out and when I had finished she corrected mine and rearranged them. Lydia: "Ok, now we clean them up! That was a short game wasn't it!"
Now these stories are always funnier when they happen, or when I tell them while they're fresh in my memory, but I hope you enjoy!
